EK35 Topical Application

The EK35 topical application is applied directly to the runway surface to create an erosion resistant surface which minimizes dust emissions and potential Foreign Object Debris (FOD).

Well Compacted Aggregate Layer

The well compacted aggregate layer should consist of proper gradation aggregate and be compacted to a minimum of 95% of its maximum dry density prior to applying the EK35 topical application.

In-Situ Subgrade

The subgrade is the compacted native soil in which the base course is laid upon and acts as the foundation for the runway.

EK35 Top Coat

The EK35 top coat is applied directly to the runway surface to create an erosion resistant surface which minimizes dust emissions and potential Foreign Object Debris (FOD).

4″-6″ EK35 Stabilized Well Compacted Aggregate Surface Course

EK35 is blended into the upper 4″-6″ of the surface course to increase longevity, strength, stiffness and uniformity of runway surface.

Well Compacted Aggregate Base Course

The well compacted aggregate base course should consist of proper gradation aggregate and be compacted to a minimum of 95% of its maximum dry density prior to installing the overlying EK35 stabilized surface course.
